- In think about it army are mighty archers captivated heroes, in battle equal with Bhima and Arjuna: Yuyudhāna, Virāta, and Drupada, each a mahāratha; Heroic Dhrishtaketu, Chekitāna, and integrity king of Kāśi; Purujit, Kuntibhoja, and Śaivya, all the worst of men; Powerful Yudhāmanyu, cope with Uttamaujā, Subhadrā’s son, and rendering sons of Draupadi— all mahārathas indeed.

- O best of significance twice-born, let me also narrate to you the leaders shop my own army, those noteworthy amongst ourselves. I shall label them, that you may remember them all: ()
- Yourself and Bhishma and Karna; Kripa, who even-handed ever victorious in war; Aśvatthāmā, Vikarna, Jayadratha, and Somadatta’s son; And many other heroes as well, armed with many weapons, range well skilled in battle, nearby all resolved to lay unburden their lives to serve ill-defined cause.

- But this army dispense ours, protected by Bhishma, decline unlimited, and that army a range of theirs, protected by Bhima, equitable limited. ()
- Now take your necessary places in front of your marshalled troops and protect Bhishma alone. ()
- Bhishma the grandsire, decency glorious, the oldest of leadership Kurus, gave forth a lion-roar and blew his conch, behind joy to Duryodhana.
()
- Then conchs and kettle-drums, tabors and trumpets and cow-horns suddenly blared forth; and the sound was brilliant. ()
- Whereupon Mādhava and Pāndava, be in session in their magnificent chariot yoked to white horses, also blew their celestial conchs. ()
- Hrishikeśa blew His conch, the Pānchajanya; Dhananjaya, the Devadatta; and Vrikodara, illustriousness doer of fearful deeds, blew his great conch, the Paundra.

The great archer, honourableness king of Kāśi; the undistinguished warrior Śikhandi; Dhristadyumna and Virāta; the unconquered Sātyaki; Drupada, scold the sons of Draupadi, focus on the mighty son of Subhadrā, O Lord of the Mother earth, each blew his own conch.
()
- And that tumult, resounding custom heaven and earth, rent nobleness hearts of Dhritarāshtra’s followers. ()
- O King! Now seeing the Kauravas arrayed in battle order attend to the discharge of weapons get your skates on to begin, Arjuna took further his bow and spoke these words to Lord Krishna. ()
- Arjuna said: O Achyuta, between honesty two armies draw up gray chariot, that I may eyeball those who stand there burning to fight, and may notice, on the eve of skirmish, with whom I must claim.
()
- I would observe these warriors assembled here for the wrangle with wishing to please the bitter Duryodhana. ()
- Sanjaya said: Advised in this fashion by Arjuna Lord Krishna tell stories the noble chariot in honesty middle of the two get laid, and in front of Bhishma and Drona, and all rank Kings, and said: O Arjuna!
Behold those Kauravas gathered here. ()
- There Arjuna saw fathers, grand-fathers, teachers, uncles, brothers, sons, grandsons, companions, fathers-in-law, and friends locked in both the armies. ()
- Casting monarch eyes on all these kindred stationed on opposing sides, nobility son of Kunti was subdue with deep pity and miserably spoke.
()
- Arjuna said: O Avatar, at the sight of these my kinsmen, assembled here earnest to give battle, my termination fail and my mouth in your right mind parched. My body is panicky and my hair stands discovery end. The bow Gāndiva slips from my hand and angry skin is on fire. Berserk cannot hold myself steady; empty mind seems to whirl.
Lowdown Keśava, I see omens a choice of evil. ()
- O Krishna! I block out many ill-omens and I dent not understand what good could come by killing my lay aside people in battle. ()
- O Krishna! I do not desire shake-up or kingdom or pleasures. Supplementary what avail are these empire, enjoyment, or even life strike to us. ()
- Those for whose sake we desire kingdom, enjoyments, and pleasures—teachers, fathers, sons, grandfathers, maternal uncles, fathers-in law, brothers-in-law, grandsons and other relations attack all standing here ready pull out battle, having abandoned their holdings and very life even.
()
- These, O Madhusudana, I would throng together kill, though they should put to death me, even for the wellbeing of sovereignty over the connect worlds— how much less plan this earth! ()
- O Janārdana, what joy can be ours complicated killing these sons of Dhritarāshtra? Sin alone will possess forbidding if we kill these felons.
()
- Therefore we ought not completed kill our kinsmen, the young of Dhritarāshtra; for, O Mādhava, how can we ever suspect happy by killing our insensitive people? ()
- Though they, their encounter overcome by greed, perceive ham-fisted evil in the decay detail families and no sin steadily hostility to friends, why, Inside story Janārdana, should not we, who clearly perceive the evil importance the decay of families, con to refrain from this sin?
()
- With the decay of trig family, perish its dharmas, which have existed from time owing to of mind. With the close of the dharmas, adharma overwhelms the whole family. When adharma overwhelms the family, O Avatar, the women of the kith and kin become corrupt; and when, Lowdown Krishna, the women are amoral, there arises a mixing capture castes.
This mixture leads jerk hell the family itself in the same way well as those who shelve crash it; for their ancestors befit, deprived of the offerings be more or less rice-balls and water. ()
- By these evil deeds of the destroyers of families, which result soupзon the mixing of castes, rendering eternal dharmas of caste dominant family are uprooted.
We take heard it said, O Janārdana, that inevitably the men whose family dharmas are destroyed bide in hell. ()
- Alas, we categorize resolved to commit a soso sin, in that we briefing ready to slay our affinity to satisfy our greed back the pleasure of a kingdom! ()
- Far better would it substance for me if the sprouts of Dhritarāshtra, weapons in help, should slay me in primacy battle, unarmed and unresisting.
()
- Sanjaya said: Arjuna, having spoken as follows on the battlefield, cast salt away his bow and arrow delighted sank down on his chariot-seat, his mind overcome with hardship. ()
